The 40th
anniversary of the Medford Historical Society in 2006 provided the
opportunity not only to celebrate accomplishments, but also to look to
the future. Concerns
about continuation of existing projects,
most notably the
restoration of Kirby's Mill,
as well as moving to
the next level with education and outreach resulted in Strategic
Planning. In September 2006, a planning committee developed belief
statements,
a
mission statement and six broad goals.
Over the
winter and spring,
volunteers broke
these goals into specific steps along with their estimated costs. In May
the whole team reconvened to accept the plans. After acceptance the
Trustees then approved the strategic plan.
We now have a path looking forward to secure our future. With the
activities clearly delineated, we anticipate more members will find a
project which matches their interests and abilities.
